Change Management Lead
Atlanta, GA or New York, NY (Hybrid)
Full-time
Here's how most transformation efforts actually die: the tech or process gets implemented, and the people don't move. Everyone on the client side knows it. Almost none of them will fund a full-blown change management program to prevent it. The budget isn't there, the timeline is tight, or the sponsor just doesn't want "change management" on the org chart. So the people side gets skipped, adoption quietly stalls, and the shiny new platform becomes the most expensive thing nobody uses.
That's the gap you close.
As our Change Management Lead, you'll get embedded with one major client as their dedicated change resource, working on live transformation projects and running change management without the banner. No 80-page change strategy deck. No separate workstream that gets cut in the first budget review. You'll read the room before the first workshop, map who wins and who loses, and build communications, enablement, and adoption plays directly into the project plan so the work gets done while the client is busy thinking it's just good project delivery. Think of it as change management in stealth mode: all of the rigor, none of the ceremony.
And when it comes down to it, the work is personal: one conversation, one moment of influence, one mind changed at a time. You'll be the person who has that conversation, in the hallway or on the call, and turns a skeptic into an ally. Six months in, the projects you've touched won't just launch. They'll get used. And the clients who didn't think they needed a change program will start asking why their other projects don't feel like this.
You may also know this role as: Organizational Change Manager, OCM Lead, Change Management Consultant, or Adoption Lead.
We're a team of Forward Deployed Marketing Engineers on a mission to make exceptional marketing repeatable. We embed inside ambitious marketing organizations and build the operating system that runs their marketing, spanning strategy, data, technology, and process, so that customer potential turns into enduring business value. We work within our clients' teams and systems, and we measure success by what they can do without us: capability, not dependency. If you'd rather build the thing than write the recommendation about it, you'll fit right in.
What You'll Own
Serve as the dedicated change lead for a major client, embedded in active transformation efforts and owning the change side of the work, even when the client hasn't scoped or funded a formal change program.
Drive change one conversation at a time: find the moment of influence, make the case to the person who matters, and change the mind that is holding a project back.
Size up the situation fast: assess change readiness, map stakeholders and impacts, and flag pockets of resistance before they turn into delays.
Weave change activities into project plans, workshops, standups, and deliverables so they ride along with the delivery work instead of competing with it for budget.
Build right-sized change assets (communications, role-based enablement, training, adoption plays) that people actually use, not shelfware.
Advise delivery leads and client sponsors on change risk and adoption in plain language, including when the answer is one they don't want to hear.
Recognize the moment a client is ready for a fuller change program, and make that case with evidence instead of a sales pitch.
Turn what works into repeatable plays that Block+Tackle can use across other engagements.
What You Bring
Senior-level experience leading change management or adoption on large-scale digital transformation work inside complex enterprise organizations. You know what matrixed, political, and change-fatigued looks like because you've been in it.
Real command of established change frameworks (Prosci/ADKAR, Kotter, or similar), plus the judgment to scale them down to what a lean engagement can support. Knowing the full playbook matters; knowing which pages to skip matters more.
Proven ability to influence without authority. You can move stakeholders who don't report to you and didn't ask for your help.
Genuine comfort working directly with clients. This is embedded work: you're in the room, not behind a deck.
Local to the Atlanta, GA or New York, NY area. This is a hybrid role, so you'll need to be within reasonable commuting distance of one of those two locations.
Nice to Have, but Not Required
Prosci certification or CCMP.
Experience in life sciences, pharma, or another regulated industry, OR experience in financial services, fintech, or securities.
Background in MarTech, marketing operations, or a marketing and data ecosystem.
Consulting experience, including working inside a billable model.
A track record of turning small, quiet change wins into bigger change engagements.
